Ashley holds a BCom LLB and has several years’ experience in private legal practice, legal consulting, and as corporate legal counsel. Ashley honed her commercial and corporate law skills in the business law divisions of Deloitte and KPMG, working closely with the tax and corporate finance divisions on local and international transactions and company restructurings for clients.

Ashley’s extensive experience in the mining industry developed over time in senior in-house legal counsel positions for Anglovaal Mining, Amari Resources and Auriant Africa, companies with mining and minerals projects in various countries in Africa including South Africa, Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, the Central African Republic and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In her roles as chief in-house legal counsel and external legal consultant she has been responsible for advising on, negotiating and drafting high level commercial transactions for local and international companies, including cross border transactions, mergers and acquisitions and operational agreements including project agreements using FIDIC, assisting in tender processes and legal due diligences, and overseeing mineral regulatory compliance. Her extensive experience in providing legal services on mining projects across Africa means she has achieved an understanding of mining law frameworks in various jurisdictions in Africa.

In her role of overseeing corporate governance aspects of businesses she has worked closely with administrators of companies registered in various jurisdictions, including the British Virgin Islands, Mauritius, Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Central African Republic, Tanzania, the DRC and South Africa developing a working knowledge of corporate compliance in these jurisdiction
